In this video I demonstrate how to construct the hook and eye wire wrap clasp and attach it to the “Spiral Hoop Necklace.” This clasp is very effective at locking the necklace in place and preventing it from falling off. It is not only perfect for this particular necklace; it can also be used on any of my wire link necklace designs. The video presents easy to follow, step by step instructions, and the best possible viewing angle. Visit www.watercolorjewelry.com to learn more about my jewelry creations. To create the Hook and Eye Wire Wrap Clasp that you see me construct in this video, I used 20 gauge nickel silver wire. You may also use .035 sterling silver wire, soft, round. This is my favorite metal to work with, or you may experiment with the many colored wires available at craft stores. A wire that I has recently become one of my favorites to work with is Niobium. It is a hypo-allergenic metal, easy to work with, and available in many anodized colors. The construction of the clasp requires the use of three different types of pliers, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, and diagonal cutters. I also use a fine jewelry file to file the ends of the cut metal wire, eliminating any sharp edges.
